Holly Herndon

Holly Herndon is an American composer and artist born in Tennessee and based in Berlin. Her practice integrates electronic music, machine learning, and extended vocal techniques, with a sustained interest in networks, surveillance, and collective identity. Albums including Movement (2012), Platform (2015), and PROTO (2019) — developed with AI collaborator Spawn — established her as a central figure in contemporary electronic and experimental music. She holds a doctorate from Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics. She co-runs the Interdependence podcast and the Holly+ platform.
