Herman Kolgen
A Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist with more than three decades in media arts, Kolgen works as an audiocinetic sculptor, drawing on the relationship between sound and image to build installations, performances, and films driven by autogenerative systems. From 1996 to 2008 he worked primarily as the duo skoltz_kolgen. Solo work has been shown at the Venice Biennale, Ars Electronica, Transmediale, and the Centre Georges Pompidou; he has also performed with Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. His work integrates biophysical and environmental data into spatially immersive audio environments, and he received an honorary mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2005.
