Henry Flynt

Henry Flynt (b. 1940, Greensboro, North Carolina) is an American musician and philosopher who coined the term concept art in 1961 — preceding Joseph Kosuth's more widely known use of the term by years — and whose subsequent career has encompassed radical anti-art activism, hillbilly-inflected experimental music, and rigorous philosophical work on the foundations of mathematics, consciousness, and culture.

His philosophical writing on cognitive nihilism — the position that all thought is ultimately undermined by its own contradictions — is intellectually demanding and genuinely original.
