Hans Otte
Hans Otte (1926–2007) served as music director for Radio Bremen from 1959 to 1984, occupying this position with remarkable artistic independence and vision. From the early 1960s onward, he frequently presented contemporary experimental American composers at his Bremen radio festival, Pro Musica Nova, introducing German audiences to figures including John Cage, David Tudor, Terry Riley, and La Monte Young at a time when these composers were relatively unknown in Europe.
His own practice as composer, pianist, and author produced works of musical theater, sound installations, poems, drawings, and video.
