Hanna Hartman

Born in Uppsala in 1961, Hartman studied electroacoustic music at EMS in Stockholm and has since built a practice centred on found objects and field recordings gathered across decades of travel. She constructs acousmatic works and stage performances in which everyday materials — stones, mechanical toys, insects — are combined into densely layered sonic worlds that reveal hidden correspondences between disparate sounds. Her awards include the Prix Europa (1998), the Karl-Sczuka-Preis (2005), and two Phonurgia Nova prizes. She served as composer-in-residence at Swedish Radio in 2008–09 and held a Villa Aurora fellowship in Los Angeles in 2010.
