Gustaf Broms

Gustaf Broms (b. 1966) is a Swedish artist working across performance, video and photography from his base in the Vendel forest. His practice probes the nature of consciousness and the dualistic split between body and mind, using durational, often solitary actions to examine what it means to be biological matter experiencing itself as a perceiving subject. He co-founded REVOLVE Performance Art Days in Uppsala with Köttinspektionen Dans and Uppsala Konstmuseum, and has presented work across Europe, Asia and North America. Works include Pentagram (2013, Toronto) and its 2024 revisitation PENTAGRAM – revisit. He was the subject of Carl Abrahamsson's 2016 film The Mystery of Life.
