Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir

Born in Reykjavik in 1972, she received her BFA from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2001 and her MFA from the Sandberg Institute at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2005. She is a member of the Dieter Roth Academy. Her practice combines sound installation, performance, drawing, and video, with drawings that function as intermediary translations from sonic events into visual form. She has exhibited at the 56th International Art Exhibition at the Venice Biennale in 2015 as part of the Silver Lining Collateral Event. Her son Matthias Tryggvi Haraldsson is a founding member of the Icelandic performance group Hatari.
