Gorse

Gorse is a Cornish avant-folk duo of Tim Uren (vocals) and Dave Kneebone (keyboards), praised early on by fellow Cornishman Aphex Twin as one of his favourite local acts. Their debut album Let the Gorse Be with You (2002) appeared on James Kirby's V/Vm Test Records, setting cracked synth-pop and homespun electronics against a wry, distinctly Cornish sensibility, referencing pasties, sailing and local dialect with deadpan humour. A follow-up, It's Fan-Dabi-Dozi!, arrived in 2003, and the project resurfaced decades later with Early Doors (2024), a rare late addition to an otherwise dormant, cult catalogue.
