Golan Levin

Golan Levin (born 1972) is an American artist, composer, and technologist based in Pittsburgh. His work combines computer science, performance, and electronic music to create interactive audiovisual systems — works in which the audience's movement, voice, or presence generates sound and image in real time. His Messa di Voce (2003, with Zachary Lieberman) is a landmark of audiovisual art, mapping the human voice into visual form in performance. A professor at Carnegie Mellon University, he has exhibited and performed internationally and is a significant figure in the intersection of electronic music, new media art, and performance technology.
