Goem

Goem is a Dutch electronic music project formed in the mid-1990s by Frans de Waard and Roel Meelkop. Working with computers, software, and a rigorously minimal approach to electronic music, their releases on Staalplaat and other labels — including Puur (1997) and Miniaturen (1999) — developed a distinctive form of functional and structurally severe electronic minimalism. Both de Waard and Meelkop have maintained extensive parallel careers in experimental and noise music, with de Waard running the Korm Plastics and related labels and Meelkop working across solo recordings and collaborations. Goem remains one of the more influential Dutch minimal electronic projects.
