Gilles Aubry

Swiss sound artist, musician, and researcher based in Berlin, he completed a PhD in social anthropology at Bern University on sonic pluralism and ecological voices in Morocco. His practice uses field recording, performance, film, installation, and radio to examine the relations between sound, listening, power, and ideology in various cultural contexts. He has presented at Documenta 14 and exhibited internationally, earning two Swiss Art Awards (2012 and 2015) and a European Sound Art Prize in 2016. His film Salam Godzilla premiered at the Visions du Réel festival in 2019. He teaches in the Sound Studies Master programme at UDK Berlin.
