Germaine Kruip

Germaine Kruip is a Dutch artist, born in 1970 in Castricum, working between Amsterdam and Brussels. Trained at DasArts and the Rijksakademie, she moves between visual art, stage, and architecture, using light, geometry, and performative gesture to make the passage of time perceptible. Her ongoing Image Archive project, begun in 2004, sits alongside kinetic light installations and film works that stage daylight, shadow, and repetition as sculptural material. She researches historical attempts at geometric abstraction and the ideologies behind them. Kruip has shown at the Stedelijk Museum, the Sydney Biennale, Art Basel, and Frieze.
