Gabi Delgado-López

Gabi Delgado-López (1958-2020) was a Spanish-born, Düsseldorf-raised singer, lyricist and producer who co-founded Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (D.A.F.) with Robert Görl in 1978. His clipped, provocative German vocals and minimal, pounding electronics on albums like Alles ist gut and Für immer helped define electronic body music, fusing punk aggression with disco pulse and confrontational, often sexually charged lyrics. After D.A.F.'s 1982 split he released solo albums, including Mistress, before reuniting with Görl in 1986. He later settled in Berlin, performing and recording until his death from a heart attack in 2020 at 61.
