Furt

Furt is a British live electronics duo comprising Richard Barrett and Paul Obermayer, founded in 1986. Working with self-developed software and live digital processing of acoustic materials, they create densely layered, abruptly shifting improvised works that sit within the tradition of European free improvisation while making full use of digital technology. Releases on Matchless Recordings and their own channels document a practice of extreme rhythmic complexity and timbral range. Barrett is also active as a notated composer; Obermayer focuses on performance software development. They have collaborated with Evan Parker and many others.
