Fujiko Nakaya
Fujiko Nakaya (born 1933, Sapporo) is a Japanese fog sculptor and video art pioneer. Daughter of Nobel Prize-winning physicist Ukichiro Nakaya, she created the world's first fog sculpture at Expo '70 in Osaka and has since developed site-specific fog installations worldwide. A key figure in Experiments in Art and Technology (EAT), she founded Video Gallery SCAN in Tokyo in 1980 and has collaborated with artists including Merce Cunningham and Trisha Brown. Her work transforms architectural and natural environments using engineered water vapor as a sculptural medium.
