Franco Evangelisti

Franco Evangelisti (1926–1980) was an Italian composer who studied at Darmstadt and became one of the most radical figures in Italian post-war music. Associated with Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza — which has the distinction of being one of the first improvisation ensembles including Ennio Morricone — he combined serial technique with graphic scores and free improvisation. He eventually abandoned composition to focus on writing and teaching, making his small output particularly precious. His work bridged European avant-garde traditions with Italian cultural contexts.
