Francisco Meirino

Born in 1975 and based in Lausanne, Switzerland, Francisco Meirino has been active in sound and performance since 1994, releasing early work under the name Phroq until 2009. His practice centres on the failure of programmable systems: working with computer, eurorack synthesizer, reel-to-reel tape recorders, magnetic field detectors, and piezo transducers, he draws out electrostatic noise, hiss, and the terminal sounds of ageing electronics. He won the Swiss Art Council composition prize for experimental music in 2003, and has performed over 150 times in Europe, Japan, and North America. Collaborators have included Jérôme Noetinger and artists across the international noise community.
