Ford Proco

Emerging from the streets of Tijuana, Mexico in 1987, Ford Proco began as a noise and soundscape experiment using improvised instruments, found objects, and cassette tape loops. Since 1991 the project has been driven by the duo of Lauro Saavedra and Robert Castañeda, who developed a signature style they call Autoconst through three studio albums — Fragmentos de ocio en el hocico del cerdo (1994), Vértigo de lodo y miel (2000), and Diagrama Percutor (2009). A fourth album, Combustión Alfanumérica, appeared in 2024, its cover art made by Steven Stapleton of Nurse with Wound. Ford Proco is considered a key figure in Mexican industrial electronic music.
