Fe-Mail

Fe-Mail is a Norwegian duo comprising Maja Ratkje and Hild Sofie Tafjord, formed in 2000. Working with voice, French horn, and electronics, they produce extreme noise and free improvisation characterised by intense physicality and a commitment to pushing their instruments and bodies to their limits. Their releases on Rune Grammofon and Blossoming Noise are documents of a feminist noise practice that refuses both the domestication of experimental music and the conventional masculinity of much noise underground. The duo's work has been influential on subsequent generations of Norwegian experimental musicians.
