Eyvind Kang
Eyvind Kang (b. 1971) is an American violist and composer of Korean, Icelandic, and Danish descent whose work spans contemporary classical composition, free jazz, experimental rock, and cross-cultural musical investigation. He has been central to the Seattle experimental music scene and has collaborated extensively with John Zorn, Laurie Anderson, Bill Frisell, and Sun City Girls, demonstrating a versatility rooted in technical mastery and broad compositional knowledge. His albums — including The Sweetness of Sickness (2004) and Theater of Mineral Nades (2004) on Ipecac — engage Indian classical music, medieval polyphony, and free improvisation in ways that refuse fixed genre boundaries.
