Etrusca 3D

Etrusca 3D is the collaborative project of Italian sound artist Francesco Cavaliere and American musician Spencer Clark. Their name plays on Cavaliere's Etruscan heritage and Clark's immersion in three-dimensional sound work. Their methodology is rooted in invocation: they sampled Cavaliere's voice pronouncing the names of Etruscan deities, loaded the recordings into an Emax 2 3D sampler, and performed with them. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2020 on Clark's Pacific City Discs with Discrepant, features tracks named after Etruscan figures including Tuchulcha, Vanth, and Voltumna — music at once ritual and highly synthetic.
