Esplendor Geométrico

Esplendor Geométrico is a Spanish industrial group formed in Madrid in 1980 by Arturo Lanz, Gabriel Riaza, and Juan Carlos Sastre, previously members of El Aviador Dro. The name comes from a text by Futurist F.T. Marinetti; the group drew on Italian Futurism alongside bands like Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire. Their debut single appeared in 1981, followed by a debut LP in 1982. By the mid-1980s they were releasing on their own label, with heavily distorted, hypnotic machine rhythms and robotic Spanish vocals that foreshadowed powernoise by over a decade. Saverio Evangelista joined in the 1990s. Despite omission from many industrial histories, they remained active through the 2020s.
