Enrique Jeżik

Born in Córdoba, Argentina in 1961, Enrique Ježik has lived and worked in Mexico City since 1990. His multidisciplinary practice is explicitly political, using weapons, war machinery, and industrial materials to critique censorship, surveillance, and institutional violence. His work La fiesta de las balas involved three glass-and-steel structures perforated with three hundred rounds fired by police-issued firearms, their recorded sounds played back in the gallery. He exhibited at the 2018 Shanghai Biennale with a large-scale sculpture later donated to the Power Station of Art. Performance is a central pillar of his practice alongside drawing, text, and architectural intervention.
