Einstürzende Neubauten

Einstürzende Neubauten are a German band formed in West Berlin in 1980, led by Blixa Bargeld. Alongside F.M. Einheit, N.U. Unruh, and others, they built a practice around the use of industrial materials — concrete, pipes, drills, springs, scrap metal — alongside conventional instruments, generating music of extreme physicality and conceptual rigour. Albums including Kollaps (1981), Zeichnungen des Patienten O.T. (1983), and Halber Mensch (1985) defined a strand of industrial music rooted in Berlin's post-war urban landscape. They remain active and continue to expand their collaborative and self-releasing practice.
