Edka Jarząb
Born in 1983, Edka Jarząb is a Polish sound artist, poet, and activist whose practice begins with deep listening as a form of political engagement. She studied Hindustani raga in Varanasi and learned deep listening from Pauline Oliveros, integrating voice, radio waves, field recording, and electronics into performances, radio plays, and sound walks. She co-creates Warsaw's community station Radio Kapitał and from 2020 to 2021 was resident at the experimental studio WORM in Rotterdam. A permanent collaborator of Brussels platform Q-O2, she also studies the sonosphere of protests and organises sonic warm-ups before street demonstrations.
