Edwin van der Heide

Born in Hilversum in 1970, Edwin van der Heide studied Music Technology in Utrecht and Sonology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. He was a co-founding member of the performance group Sensorband, alongside Zbigniew Karkowski and Atau Tanaka, and has since developed an expansive practice in sound installation and spatial composition that incorporates laser, real fog, and multi-channel audio systems. His work has been shown at the Reina Sofía in Madrid, the MAXXI in Rome, and Art Basel. In 2015 he received the Composition Prize of the Beethoven Foundation in Bonn. He teaches and researches at Leiden University.
