Eduardo Kac

Eduardo Kac (b. 1962, Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian-American artist and theorist whose work has pioneered bio-art, telepresence, and transgenic art. His project GFP Bunny (2000) — creating a rabbit with a fluorescent green protein through genetic engineering — generated international debate about the ethics and aesthetics of biotechnology. He coined the term bio-art and has exhibited and published internationally. His work raises profound questions about life, technology, and the boundaries of art practice that remain urgently relevant in an era of accelerating biotechnological development.
