Edgar Válcárcel
Edgar Válcárcel (1932–2010) was a Peruvian composer and one of the most important figures in the Latin American musical avant-garde of the twentieth century. Born in Puno, he studied composition in Lima and later in New York and worked in both electroacoustic and instrumental music, becoming a foundational figure in the development of contemporary composition in Peru.
His work combined experimental composition with a deep engagement with Andean indigenous music, graphic notation, political expression, and social critique.
