Dušan Barok
Slovak artist, writer, and researcher born in Bratislava, he founded Monoskop in 2004—initially a wiki documenting media art in Bratislava, which grew into one of the most substantial collaborative digital libraries in the fields of arts, humanities, and experimental culture. He studied networked media at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam and completed a 2024 PhD at the University of Amsterdam on publishing as a conservation strategy for contemporary art. His broader practice spans research, curation, and exhibition-making across Eastern Europe, including contributions to Multiple Realities: Experimental Art in the Eastern Bloc at the Walker Art Center.
