Donna Summer

Donna Summer (LaDonna Adrian Gaines, 1948–2012) was the defining voice of the disco era, known as the Queen of Disco. Settling in Munich, she met producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte; their 1975 collaboration Love to Love You Baby introduced the extended 12-inch disco mix and became an international sensation. Her subsequent records I Feel Love, Bad Girls, Hot Stuff, and Last Dance cemented her status as the genre's foremost figure. She was the first female artist to have three number one singles in a single calendar year, won five Grammy Awards, and was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
