Dome

Dome is a British studio project formed by Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis of Wire in 1980. Working independently of Wire's post-punk context, the duo developed a series of austere, experimental recordings released on Mute's Dome imprint — three self-titled albums plus the Domo and Will You Speak This Word? releases. Using minimal means, repetitive structures, tape experiments, and Gilbert's guitar processed beyond recognition, the albums anticipated industrial music, minimal wave, and the broader post-punk experimentation of the early 1980s. Both artists continued with Wire and their own solo projects; Gilbert remains active as a visual and sound artist.
