Dntel

Dntel is the alias of James Tamborello (born 1975), a Los Angeles-based electronic musician. His album Life Is Full of Possibilities (2001) on Plug Research included the track (This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan, a collaboration with Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie that anticipated the Postal Service project they would record together. Dntel's electronic music occupies a space between glitchy IDM and bedroom pop sentimentality, with a focus on warmth and melody unusual in the West Coast experimental scene of the time. He continued releasing under the Dntel name through the 2000s and 2010s, maintaining a low-key but distinctive presence in independent electronic music.
