Dj Travella

Dj Travella is a Tanzanian producer born Hamadi Hassani in Dar Es Salaam, responsible for some of the most exhilarating electronic music of recent years. He has injected crackling cybernetic energy into singeli — a fast-paced, polyrhythmic genre from Dar Es Salaam's street party culture — making records that represent some of the most important developments in electronic music of the last decade.

His album Mr Mixondo, released on Nyege Nyege Tapes, brought his work to international attention and established singeli as a genre with global resonance.
