Dj Sniff

Dj Sniff (Takuro Mizuta Lippit) is a Tokyo-born DJ and sound artist based in Amsterdam. Working as a turntablist in free improvisation and contemporary experimental music contexts, he treats the turntable as an acoustic instrument rather than a playback device, using contact microphones, preparations, and physical manipulation of records to produce sounds well outside conventional DJ practice. He was based at the STEIM institute in Amsterdam, where he worked on instrument development. He has collaborated with Tetuzi Akiyama, Christof Kurzmann, and many others in the international free improvisation scene.
