DJ Olive

DJ Olive (Gregor Asch) is a New York-based DJ, producer, and sound artist, co-founder of the We™ (Why?) turntable collective. Working at the intersection of turntablism, ambient music, and free improvisation, he approaches the DJ set as a form of live composition rather than music playback — building slow, textural works from vinyl sources that occupy a distinctly different space from club DJ culture. He has collaborated with Yuka Honda, DJ Spooky, and others, and has released on Wordsound and other independent labels. His practice has been noted for its quietness and patient attention in a field often defined by maximalism.
