Distraxi

Distraxi is the noise project of Alina Church, working from England's south coast across harsh noise, death industrial and power electronics. Drawn into the UK underground through Outsider Art label artists like Blackcloudsummoner, Cremation Lily and Knifedoutofexistence, Church builds a practice she has described as "ecstatic pain castration," using distortion and confrontational live performance to sever pain from pain rather than resolve it. Releases including the self-titled Distraxi, Attis, and Sporus draw on classical and mythological figures to stage transgender experience and bodily struggle, alongside collaborations with Daniel Lundh and SecretWeapon and splits such as Sickening.
