Dinos & Dake Chapman

Dinos Chapman (b. 1962, London) and Jake Chapman (b. 1966, Cheltenham) studied together at the Royal College of Art from 1988 to 1990, having previously worked as assistants to Gilbert and George. Their collaboration began in 1991 and rose to prominence through the Young British Artists exhibitions Brilliant! and Sensation in the mid-1990s. Working in sculpture, installation, printmaking, and painting, their practice engages with evil, violence, and moral outrage—from mutilated mannequins and Nazi imagery to their repainting of Goya's Disasters of War etchings and their appropriation of original Hitler watercolours in 2008. In 2022 they ended their professional partnership.
