Dewi de Vree

Dutch sound artist born in 1983, she developed her practice at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, becoming interested in natural phenomena and translations between time-based processes and still images. Working at the intersection of visual art and machine-making, her performances and installations use sensory physical experiments as their basis. Works include Elektrolab, a performance based on electrochemistry, Thermokoppel, exploring acoustic properties of metal through temperature, and Ground, an audiovisual performance using graphite drawings as a control interface for electronics. She is part of the Instrument Inventors Initiative (iii) and the artist collective Helicopter in The Hague.
