Dave Phillips

Swiss musician and activist born on 18 January 1969, he co-founded grindcore group Fear of God in the 1980s before launching his solo practice in 1987—first album 1994—and joining Schimpfluch-Gruppe with Rudolf Eb.er, Daniel Löwenbrück, and Joke Lanz. Describing his output as Ritual Protest Music, his work uses amplified field recordings, fire and animal sounds, and extended voice to engage ecology, animal liberation, and anti-civilisation politics. He has appeared on over 300 releases and performed roughly 800 concerts across 55 countries. Releases include the Tochnit Aleph document The Hermeneutics of Fear of God (2003).
