Danja Vasilev

Media artist and critical engineer born in Saint Petersburg and based in Berlin, he has been involved in computer-technology and media-art events internationally since 1999. His practice subjects hardware, firmware, and software to anti-disciplinary experimentation, exposing how network infrastructure shapes the circulation of personal data. In 2011 he co-authored The Critical Engineering Manifesto with Julian Oliver and Gordan Savičić, and is co-founder of the Critical Engineering Working Group at Studio Weise7. His work has received recognition at Ars Electronica, the Japan Media Art Festival, and Transmediale.
