Dan Lander

Canadian sound artist, writer, and radio producer born in Oshawa, Ontario in 1953, he studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design before establishing himself in Toronto. His work draws on documentary and the politics of sound reproduction, treating loudspeaker transmission as a site of political meaning. He produced the radio art programme The Problem with Language on CKLN Toronto from 1987 to 1991, and co-edited two foundational anthologies: Sound by Artists (1990) and Radio Rethink: Art, Sound and Transmission (1994), both essential texts in the history of Canadian sound art and radio practice.
