Cut Hands
Project of William Bennett — founder and leader of the power electronics group Whitehouse — which emerged around 2008 from his immersion in Haitian vodou drumming and Central and West African ritual percussion. Its debut full-length, Afro Noise Vol. 1, appeared in 2011, submitting dense polyrhythmic percussion patterns to the processing and extremity of noise music. The project name references the Whitehouse track Cut Hands Has the Solution from the 2003 album Bird Seed. Bennett has described his path into the material through years of study with a Cuban Santeria priest who had lived with Congolese communities.
