Crash Worship
Crash Worship was a San Diego experimental performance ensemble active from 1986 to 1999, founded by percussionists Markus Wolff and Simon Cheffins. The group became known for confrontational live performances inspired by Viennese Actionism: three stand-up drummers driving industrial and tribal polyrhythms, surrounded by fire, explosions, and crowds doused in liquids. Banned from venues across the United States, the group toured the US and Europe through the mid-1990s and released several self-produced albums. Their final performance took place on October 24, 1999, in San Diego.
