Cory Arcangel
Cory Arcangel (born 1978, Buffalo, New York) is an American artist working at the intersection of technology, popular culture, and music. Trained at Oberlin Conservatory, his practice spans software art, video, installation, and performance, often using obsolete consumer technologies and video game hardware as raw material. His Super Mario Clouds (2002) — a hacked NES cartridge stripped to its drifting cloud layer — became a defining work of post-internet art. He has exhibited at the Whitney Museum, MoMA, and Barbican, and has released music and visual work through his own studio in Brooklyn, exploring the aesthetics of boredom, automation, and digital vernacular.
