Consumer Electronics
British power electronics project formed in 1982 by Philip Best at the age of 14 in the United Kingdom. Best joined Whitehouse in 1983 and Consumer Electronics lay dormant for much of the following decades, but after his departure from Whitehouse in 2008 he revived it as a trio with his partner Sarah Froelich and Russell Haswell. Known for confrontational performances and cassette releases that helped define and distribute the power electronics genre in the early 1980s, the project has continued to produce work exploring themes of violence, control, and societal coercion.
