Colby Richardson

Colby Richardson is a Toronto-based media artist, experimental filmmaker and sound performer fascinated by underused and malfunctioning technology. He is known for live sound performances built from failing compact fluorescent bulbs, coaxing percussive, piercing tones from their flicker and hum, alongside audio-visual works spanning installation, video-sculpture, expanded cinema and single-channel film. His practice interrogates how tools and devices are valued or discarded, exposing overlooked artistic capacities in obsolete media. Richardson performs within Toronto's experimental music circuit, including as part of the trio Triptych with Kristina Guison and Colin Cudmore.
