Cocteau Twins

Cocteau Twins were a Scottish trio formed in Grangemouth in 1979, comprising Elizabeth Fraser, Robin Guthrie, and Simon Raymonde. Active from 1982 to 1997, they released on 4AD and built a sound defined by Fraser's wordless, glossolalic vocals and Guthrie's heavily processed, reverb-saturated guitars. Albums including Treasure (1984), Victorialand (1986), and Heaven or Las Vegas (1990) are central documents of dream pop and 4AD's aesthetic identity. Their influence on ambient, gothic, and shoegaze music was substantial, and Fraser's voice remains one of the most distinctive in post-punk history.
