CocoRosie

CocoRosie is the duo of American sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady, formed in Paris in 2003. Their music combines operatic soprano and lo-fi folk with hip-hop beats, toy instruments, found sounds, and deeply personal lyrical imagery — a collision of the childlike and the traumatic that is difficult to categorise and immediately recognisable. Albums including La Maison de Mon Rêve (2004), Noah's Ark (2005), and Grey Oceans (2010) on Touch and Go and Sub Pop established them as singular voices in independent music. Their visual and performative practice extends their music into costume, circus, and queer performance art contexts.
