Christopher DeLaurenti
Born in 1977 and based in Seattle, this composer and phonographer works with field recordings of protests, legal proceedings, and environmental events, sculpting activist sound from documents of social change. On November 30, 1999, he recorded the WTO protests in Seattle amid pepper spray and rubber bullets, producing N30: Live at the WTO Protest. He holds an MFA from Bard College and a PhD in Sound and Media Studies from Goldsmiths, University of London. He teaches at the Peabody Institute and has released work on American Archive, Masters Chemical Society, and GD Stereo.
