Christina Kubisch
Born in Bremen in 1948, this German sound artist studied painting, flute, piano, and electronic music across Hamburg, Graz, Zurich, and Milan before turning to sound installation in the mid-1970s. From 1978 she developed works using electromagnetic induction, and since 2003 her Electrical Walks series has invited audiences to traverse urban environments with custom headphones that make audible the hidden electromagnetic fields of banks, shops, and infrastructure. She is a member of the Akademie der Künste Berlin and has held professorships in Berlin, Paris, Saarbrücken, and Oxford.
